ACCIDENTS AND DEATHS
CHIEF ENGINEER SCALDED. Mr Noil M'Caig, chief engineer of the steamer Maheno, was badly scalded on the face, hands, and kgs by a sudden blow-out of steam while the boiler was being attended to. He was sent to the hospital,—Wellington Press Association telegram. PREYED ON HIS MIND. A VVuipawa Association message states that. Edward George M'Roberts, aged fifty-three and single, committed suicide this morning by blowing bis head off with gelignite. Deceased was summoned bo appear in court to-day on charges of theft, and it is supposed that this preyed on his mind.
