PICTURE THEATRES

EMPIRE. Tito comedy-drama heading the bill at ; the Empire Theatre, ‘ Galloping Fish, will be finally screened this evening. A Paramount picture, entitled ‘The Moral Sinner,’ a stifling love melodrama of the Paris boulevards, with beautiful Dorothy Dalton in the alluring chief role of Leah Klcschna, will lie the feature tomorrow. Theatre patrons have not seen Dorothy since her marked success in ‘ The Law of tin- Lawless,’ but (his firm favorite will ho as welcome here again as elsewhere. ‘The Moral Sinner’ has Miss Dalton as a daring queen of the "Apaches,” as a fascinating leader in the underworld. She Ire-s to quit this life she does not love. The story is adapted from the play, ‘ Leah Klesehna,’ and it; is finely handled. H is packed with ac-j tinn and (ecise moments', dames Rennie is the leading man. and Ralph luce, re-1 sponsible for many fine, box-office pictures,, notably among .recent ones ‘ Homeward Round’ (Thomas Meighan), directed. In private life Mr Rennie is Hie husband of | Dorothy Gish, and he was seen in (Children's (,'hildren.' Olliers in Hie cast are Aplinnz Ethier, Frederick Lewis, W. d. I’ercival, I’. M’Allistcr. and Florence! Fair. Interesting supporting pictures i will be screened, while the Empire Orchestra will play specially-chosen music under 1 Mr C. Parnell’s direction. The enlr-acte,, ‘ Lo, Here the Gentle Lark,’ a dent arranged for the flute and clarionet, will bo played by Messrs 'l. Redman and S. George, OCTAGON. ‘The Bedroom Window,’ a mystery play j at (he Octagon Theatre, will lie .screened, there this evening for tho last lime. ‘ The Green Goddess,' starring George; Arliss, will commence tomorrow. It is' hailed as the greatest art achievement of the screen to date, and for sheer compel-j ling melodrama superbly acted, and mag-i nitieeiilly set, it is all that could be de-j sired. .Distinctive Pictures Corporation,! producers of the film, have, most certainly spared nothing to transfer Mr Archer’s clever work lo the screen satisfactorily. Tho leading feminine role opposite Mr Arliss is played by none other than Alice Joyce, that, gnrgeonsly-heantifnl young lady who, after her recent marriage to one of New York’s wealthiest young men, swore that the screen would never see her again. The litre of a part, with such possibilities as the young Englishwoman in ‘ Tho Green Goddess ’ was too great, and Miss Joyce succumbed to the persuasion of Arthur S. Friend and Henry M. Hobart to return to the screen. Roshanara, famous interpreter of East Indian dances, supervised the Indian detail and Oriental atmosphere of the picture. Ihe Octagon Orchestra will render particularly appropriate, music. QUEEN'S. ' Poisoned Paradise ’ and ‘ The Love Letter ’ are being shown before large audiences at Hie, Queen’s Theatre. A story of Paris runs through Hie former, featuring four film notables. Gladys Walton has the role in tho other picture, tolling a delightful story of youth. EVERYBODY’S. Grace Darmnnd gives a capable portrayal of the, chief role, of ‘ Handle With Care,’ a really" uproarious comedy now being screened at Everybody's. In association with this picture is ‘ Tho Young Rajah.’ a love drama relating how an Indian prince is restored to his 'throne in place of tho usurper.
