Senator Wilson, who is in charge of assistance to marketing, has received a cable from the High Commissioner (Sir Joseph Cook) stating that, between 40,000 ami 50,000 cases of apples were brought on to the open market in London this year for sale at Wembley at an average of 16s lOd per'ease. Allowing the liberal estimate of 8s lOd per case for the cost of marketing, this left the growers a. return of 8s per case at the. trc-\ The growers recently informed Senator Wilson that (he industry would be profitable if they were assured of .a return of 4s a case at the tree. Ho estimated that if Wembley reopens next year 100,000 oases would be sold.
