BUSH FIRE
area still smouldering. An extensive bush fire was observed shortly after 6 p-tm yesterday on the ’Vhare Flat side of Flagstaff. Dense smoke- was seen coming townwards, but -when the fire had gained _ a firmer hold the, atmosphere cleared. Tim blaze continued for some hours, (hen gradually diminished, hut it is stated that'the area was .still smouldering, if not burning, today. The extent of country burned is not yet known, hut the lire is said to he serious. ami men were out all day to-day ascertaining the ■ damage and fighting the file where necessary.
