A FEMALE OFFENDER. May Hutchison appeared at the City Police Court this morning on a charge that, on July 2, 1924, being a person released upon probation under the First Offenders Probation Act, 1920, she did fail to comply with the terms of her release. She was also charged with procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order on September 4, September 7, and September 8. Sub-inspector Fraser said that the accused came before the court on a charge of theft, and was admitted to probation and prohibited. She had constantly broken the order, according to Ensign Coombs. Prisoner pleaded guilty, and asked- for another chance.
The Magistrate (Mr Bartholomew) said that the case was not one in which another chance could be given. The accused would bo convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon, provided she remained in Mount Magdala Home (Christchurch) for twelve months.
