Australian and N.Z. Press Association. LABOR DISPUTES. A CLAIM FOR DAMAGES. SYDNEY, September 11. (Received September 11, at 9.65 a.m.) Writs have been issued on behalf of Alexander Healy and James Connors, railway employees, claiming £I,OOO damages in each case for alleged prosecution, wrongful arrest, and false imprisonment against Arthur William Buckley. [A, W. Buckley, who was suspended from the position of New South Wales secretary by the Federal Executive of the Railway Union, had warrants issued for the arrest of Healy, formerly New South Wales treasurer, Petterson, . formerly New South Wales acting-secretary, and Connors, a former executive officer, on charges of conspiring to defraud the union of certain sums of money. These men surrendered themselves to the police. Buckler was suspended for "'taking action without consulting the executive. The charges were afterwards withdrawn and the men discharged.]
DISPUTE SETTLED. FREMANTLE, September 11. (Received September 11, at 9.55 a.m.) The long-drawn-out dispute concerning the crow of tho Commonwealth lighthouse steamer Kyogle has been settled. The present crow will be returned to Sydney and a now crow signed on. [On July 4 the firemen and seamen of the Commonwealth lighthouse steamer Kyogle declined to leave the vessel at Perth at tho behest of the Seamen’s Union, maintaining that they were being paid award rates. Later the steamer was declared “ black,” Pickets placed near the vessel intercepted lorries conveying stores to the ship, and the drivers turned away without delivering them.]
