PIG-HUNTING ACCIDENT.

WHAKATANE, August 18.
A boy named Theobald, sixteen years, was wounded with a shotgun yesterday morning at Manawahe. He was jug. hunting with his father when the latter slipped, tho gun in his hand going off, peppering his son. Tho boy who was woundod in both thighs, was token to the Whakatane Hospital, where it _ was found that his injuries were not serious. SWEPTFBOM HORSE. GISBORNE, August 18. While fording the Mato River, which was in high flood, a Native named Tar.v beta (swept from Ms horse and drowned. FATALLY SCALDED. GISBORNE, August 18. Ronald Gordon Thackwell, aged thirteen montlis, was fatally scalded through upsetting a cup of hot cocoa over himself. WORKS FOREMAN KILLED. A Hokitika message states that Ernest M'lwroe, of Totara Flat, a married man, in charge of a Public Works Department gang engaged in the erection of a new bridge over tho Waikdknpa River, below Waiho Gouge, was killed on Friday morning. Ho was working on the old structure when portion of tho heavy material foil, fatally crashing him.
