(Received August 18, at 9.30 a.m.) At Markham (Ontario), in summarising the attitude of the Canadian Government on interimperia! relations, the Prime Minister (Mr Mackenzie), in a speech, said; “Wo have maintained that tho day is past when Canada should, in her relations with the other parts of the Empire, not excepting Britain herself, take the position of a colony subordinate in position and inferior in status.” “While Canada does not claim that her interest or her powers arc in any degree comparable to those of the Motherland,” said Mr King, “we contend that to the extent of our interest in iutcriniperial, as in all partnership arrangements, we are entitled to have our voice heard. In matters of foreign policy, no less than in domestic concerns, there should not bo taxation without representation.” —Router.
