The Canadian Cruiser sailed to-day for Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland to complete loading for American and Canadian ports. The Danish motor ship Nordbo was to leave Timaru'at noon to-day for Dunedin. She will be hero to-night or to-morrow morning. The Corinna loads hero about August 27 for Oamaru, Timaru, Nelson, and New Plymouth. The Flora is exceeded to leave Gisborne on Tuesday for Dunedin direct, and loads about Friday for Napier and Oisboruo via Oamaru, Timaru, and Lyttejton. The Kittawa loads at Greymouth and Westport early next week for Dunedin. The Kahika leaves Wellington on Monday for Timaru, Bluff, and Dunedin. The Kaitangata sails at noon on Monday for Greymouth direct to load for Adelaide. The Waikouaiti, cn route from Sydney, is expected, to call at Hobart about the middle of September to load timber for Bluff and Dunedin. The Wingatui leaves Bluff this afternoon, and is duo hero to-morrow. She sails on Monday for Auckland via ports. The Kauri is expected to-morrow from Bluff, and after discharging hardwood cargo from Port Stephens sails on Monday for Timaru, Lyttelton, and Wellington.

FRENCH CARGO ON GERMAN SHIP. The German steamer Westfalen, which arrived at Sydney on August 8, brought an assortment of cargo from a variety of nations, including French goods loaded at Antwerp. There were also consignments from Holland, Belgium, and Germany Among the latter it was noticeable that the German toy is returning.

PERSONAL. Captain J. T, Rolls, commodore of the Union Company's fleet, and master of the. R.M.S. Niagara, having completed forty years’ service with the company, is to retire from the sea on August 23, when the vessel arrives at Sydney from \ anconver. With a previous service of some years as an officer. Captain Rolls was appointed commander of the small steamer Moa. then owned bv the Union Company, in 1884. He steadily rose in the service until 1914, when he' was appointed commander of the Niagara., and, except for short absences on holidays, he has been in continuous command of the mail steamer over since. He has reached the retiring age. Captain A. E. Barlow, who was transferred from the Makura at Sydney, will take over the command of the Niagara. Mr J. D. Parminter has signed off the Kamona’s articles ns second officer, and joined the Wninni in a similar capacity, replacing Mr W. 11. Cadwallader. THE FERRY SERVICE.

PENNYWORTH WITH TIMBER Cable news has been received by Millar’s West Australian Hardwoods Company that the steamer Pennyworth sailed from Bunbnry on August 9 with a cargo of jnrrah for d’seharge at Auckland. UNION COMPANY’S NEW STEAMER. A Press Association message from London states that the Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand has purchased the steamer Saint Rominique, which has been renamed the Kairanga, [The Saint Bominique is a steel screw steamer of 2,830 tons, and was launched at Hessle in 1921. Her principal dimensions are as follow Length ZcAii 6ih, breadth 44ft lin, depth 23ft 2in.] THE OVERDUE CATHKIT. The three-masted scow Cathkit, which left Sydney for Hobart on July-3, is now long overdue, and masters of vessels leaving for Australia are warned to keep a look-out for the missing scow. The Oathkit (formerly the Arrah na Pogue) was built at Auckland in 1912, and. was. engaged in the intercolonial trade until the end of 1921, when she was laid up in Sydney Harbor. She was sold last June to Victorian buyers, and.was on her way to Hobart to commence a service between Tasmania and other States when she was reported missing. The Cathkit is a wooden vessel of 139 tons, her dimensions being : Length 116 ft, breadth 33ft, depth 7ft. RIMUTAKA HOMEWARD BOUND. The New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised by cablegram that the Rimutaka left Newport News on August 10 for Boston, New York, and West of England ports, in continuation of her voyage from New Zealand. The vessel sailed from Auckland on July 6. THE CANADIAN PLANTER. The Canadian Planter, now discharging cargo at Auckland from Vancouver, is expected to arrive at Wellington to-morrow to continue discharge.
