POLICE COURT
TncTRSDAY, June 26. (Before Sir J. R. Bartholomew, SAL) ALLEGED FALSE DOCUMENT. Ng Kum Tong, a young Chinaman, appeared to answer a. charge of making a false document—a cheque for £42 purporting to be signed by W. R. Chee —intending it to bo acted upon as genuine. Chief-detective Lewis said the accused was arrested on. a warrant issued by the Magistrate’s Court at Christchurch. Accused was remanded to appear at Christchurch on June 28. REMANDED TILL MONDAY. James Stewart was charged with breaking and entering the shop of Alfred Edward Townsend by night, and stealing boots and shoes valued at £7 Is, Senior-Sergeant slM.thio.son said that the police would like to make fuller inquiries. He asked for a remand untjl Monday, and this was granted. DRUNKENNESS. Robert Ernest Powell was fined 20s, in _ default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment. A. similar penalty was inflicted on a first offender.
