SYDNEY, June 24. _ The steady increase in Sunday games is viewed with growing alarm by church people, and several protests have been raised. The Christian Temperance Union at Glcu Lines asked the mayor to extend the prohibition of games during church hours to the whole day, and the Church Federation at Brisbane asked the Government to refuse to sanction the City Council’s proposal to repeal the by-law against Sunday games. SETTLEMENT OF SOLDIERS. BRISBANE, June 24. The Minister in Charge of Soldiers’ Settlement has prepared a statement showing that- the various States have settled a total of 33,238 returned soldiers at a cost, of £58,088,000. The average individual outlay ranged from £745 in Queensland to £2.699 in South Australia. In New South Wales the cost was £2,441, and in Victoria £1,820. A CHARGE THAT RULED. SYDNEY, June 24.
