TL Thomson), arrived in Dunedin yesterday ab 1.15 p.m. by tho express from Gliristclni:ch, lie was mot by the mayor (..Mr Ji. L. Tapiey), members ol both branches ol the lature, and other prominent citizens. To-day Air Massey visited the raw's at Wiimutui, ami also opened the \v inter Show. He leaves lor Auelriaud on Thnrsdav.
The Rotary Club will entertain the Prime AlTnisLer, the lion. Vv. D. Stewart, and Sir A\m. Sim at luncheon to-morrow.

Gourlay, who was well known in newspaper circles; aged fifty years. JJo was for a lung time father of the chapel of the ‘ .Press.’ Ho leaves a widow and one son, Mr E. Gourlay, who is a member of the stall' of tho Cn.wl-.hron Institute, at Nelson. A London cable states (hat Air J.. 11. Thomas, (Colonial Secretary) lias recovered from pleurisy, though, lie is still coulincd to his bed. A Sydney cable records the death of Captain H. E. Lilyehlad. He arrived at Auckland in 1880, and qualified there as a master mariner.
