MEETING OP DIRECTORS. An adjourned meeting of the of Uio New Zealand and South Seas Kxhibilion Company was hold yestcruay afternoon. Mr j. Sutherland Itoss presided, and there were present Messrs C. Speight, T. Somerville, 0. Todd, H. I • Sinoock, A. Barnett, W. B. Hayward, i. L. HaLstcd, and P. Barr. Mr Todd reported that the ditch lately put in the Exhibition ground would have the effect of drying the ground thoroughly. Something of a more permanent nature, however, would be required before the Exhibition buildings were completed. A letter was read from the Otago Hospital Board intimating that no action would be taken in reference to the suggested removal of the Inlcctious Diseases Hospital from its prcsmil site at La.ko Logan. Mr Hayward submitted a report by the Awards Committee. Consideration of tne detailed scheme of awards that bad been drawn! up was deferred until next week. Mr Barnett, on behalf of the Publicity Committee, said that a large folder, now in course of preparation, would ho placed before the directors in about three weeks. The proposal fo seek to obtain from the Prime Minister a brief autograph letter staling that the Exhibition had Government support and patronage was approved. A loiter was received from Canon IScvill proposing that the directors undertake the publication of his ‘ European Place Names in New Zealand ’ as a literary memento of the Exhibit ion—The matter was referred to the Ways and Means Committee. Mr IlalsWl, reporting for the Horticnl tural Committee, said that an agreement had been come to as to details of the layout of the grand court. Mr Speight, reporting on behalf of the Finance Committee, said the committee, proposed a charge of Is for the admission of adults to the Exhibition. The committee had no recommendation to make with reference to Iho suggestion about medallions. Of the applications received_ for the position of manager of the Exhibition from Australia and New Zealand two were submitted for further consideration by the directors along with other applicajions still in England.' —The charge of Is for those aged fourteen or every was agreed to, but the fixing of the price of the season tickets was deferred, the clause referring to the medallions was referred hack to the committee. It was arranged that deputations wait on the important fanners’ meetings fo be held in Dunedin tin's week.
Mr Rincock suggested that the directors meet every Monday evening to dispose of some of the business. The business was now increasing so enormously that they would never get through it in one evening silling. It would probably bo found suTlahlc then In bold short meetings late on Thursday afternoons. —The Chairman said that the question would be considered at the next meeting.
