THE BIG EXHIBITION
WORKS UNDER CONSTRUCTION,
This last week or so has seen some preliminary evidence of material progress in tho lay-out of the Exhibition grounds. For months past work has been going on in connection with the formation of a waterway down the, west side of the grounds, as a. brushwood wall has been put in to stop the dredged material from spreading over tho Opolio Creek channel. The final decision as to tho disposal of the water from Dus creek has still to ho arrived at, and tho engineers of Die bodies concerned have had several conferences on Dio matter. At present attention is being devoted to laying down tho sports arena, and this is being effected by bringing down clay from Dio Logan Trust property, in connection with which a chute has now been erected up tho hillside. Other work now under way is tho lovcl]inz off of Die site for the main exhibit buildings,, and a contract has been let to Mr M. Stevenson for this work. The tenders for the buildings close on Dio 28th insi., by which time the site will be ready for blinding, and tho railway siding for bringing material on to tho site will bo laid down, as this matter is now In Dio hands of Dio Distinct Railway Engineer for Dm necessary action.
