H.M.S. DUNEDIN

LAST DAYS OF VISIT. was the anniversary of the accession of King George V. to the throne, and H.M.S. Dunedin was gaily decorated with bunting. At a given hour the ship's company assembled at their various stations, and the officers stood at the salute and (ho men to attention while the National Anthem was played by the ship's band as the flag was hoisted. It had boon intended to fire a salute of twenty-one guns, but it was decided not to do so on account of the vessel being alongside the wharf.

Members of the ship’s company yesterday visited the Montecillo Soldiers’ Home. This morning the vessel was inspected by about 500 children from the schools between Port Chalmers and Ravensbourne. They came to Dunedin by the train leaving Tort Ohnjmers at 9.35 a.m.. and arriving hero at 10.5.' They returned by the 12.10 train.

A searchlight display will be given tomorrow night if the weather is suitable. The display will commence at 7 o’clock, and its duration will be of about twenty minutes.

This afternoon the ship’s company gave a.) “at home ” to the friends they had made in Dunedin during their stay. Tho cruiser was open only to those who received special invitations. To-night, from 7.30 till 11 o’clock, an invitation dance will bo given on board. To-morrow morning about 800 school children who are members of the Navy League will visit the vessel. In the afternoon the ship will, again be thrown open for public inspection. The Dunedin will sail at 7 a.m._ on Friday for Auckland direct to rejoin the squadron. She will join H.M.S. Dauntless (which is to leave Bluff to-morrow) off the Otago Heads.
