THE OPOHO TRAM.
TO THE EDITOB. Sir—Those who will frequent this new tramway extension daily will not, exceed a dozen'. To those few it is proposed to grant four sections for 2ijd, as against other concession ticket-holders at Ojd. They will pocket 9d weekly, and will have the 'extreme satisfaction ot being transported up this steep hill at less than onetcnlh of what it costs to do so. They should have no other option than the ordinary concession ticket, and there is no reason whatever why unnecessary expense should be incurred in printing a few dozen special tickets at 2s 9d and 2s. three snips uphill and two snips downhill should he the separate charge, like any other hill system in Dunedin for a mile or loss. No schedule of fares or time-table on extension will over pay axle grease. The. sooner it is abandoned Die bolter it will lie for the ratepayer and other passengers. Warnings were abundant and unheeded. The chairman had plenty of visits to Wellington. Not one of his prophecies will be verified. No decision has yet been adopted as to how long, and to what extent per day, will (lie huge loss he. perpetuated. The result will be the same as that of any of 1 Iso other proposed extentions, against all of which wo must vote on the, 14th lust, if we desire to continue -our famous penny-section system without increasing the city rates. This Opoho venture is the maddest ever undertaken or proposed in this city,—-1 am, etc., CouxsKi.Lon. May 7.
