1 ANNUAL REPORT. I The council of St. 'Margaret's Presbyterian Residential College submitted the t annual report for the year ended 1 Decemi her 51 last to the Dunedin Presbytery I yesterday morning. I 'Die report stated that, tho college had j been kept full, and all departments had worked so smoothly as to leave little room for comment. The comfort, the health, and the general well-being of the students in residence had been under Miss Fah'hn.irn (principal) and Miss X. Callender's (•assistant) cor,strut care, and to the devotion of those ladies was to he otfVila u ted in a lane measure the present satisfactory position. During the year the. long-lookcd-fr-r extension of the college had hecome an accomplishd fact, and the year had opened with on enrolment of ninety-seven students in residence, of whom fifteen were art students, twentyfour medical, forty-three Training College, eight dentistry, six massage, and one law. The accomplishment of the extension was made possible bv the generosity of a few friends of the college, who contributed a sum of £1,050 towards the purchase aaid furnishing of a large residence in Clyde Street, known os Tlunllv. This house w-as connected bv a, covered way to the, main buildings. This purchase had added £2,000 to the mortgage indebtedness of the council. and in addition it had been necessary to spend a large sum of money in making alterations required and in drainave. Ihe council accepted an offer from a donor for a considerable number of suitable books to foim a, nucleus of a college library. Five medical students were in their final voar. and we.ro due to s'.t for final examination, One student graduated M.A. with first-class honors in French and Latin. Three qualified for 8.A.. one _oi these winning the Porker Memorial Prite and another''the Anna. Stout Scholarship in economic?. Two final rear students sat for the dental examination. One fully qualified, and now held 'a good position in the Auckland Hospital. AH students at the Training College came through well in their examine lions, as also did most of those who sat for tho first section of the B.A. degree. The conned recommended -the rawnointment of Lady Boss, Mrs ,L A. Johnstone. Mr ft. K. Wilkinson, Mr J. Tail, Bovs. .1. Kilpatrick, B. Fa i maid, and R. R. IM. to tho council, and also the appointment of the Bev. Hector Maclean, Mr W. M'Llrea, and Mr J. A. Moore as Additional' mcmJicrs te the council. ; The report was adopted, and the recommendations approved of.
