RUGBY. O.E.F.U. Tho weekly meeting of tho commit too of tho O.R.F.TJ. was held last night, Mr H. H. S. White (president) being in tho chair. TRANSFERS. John Poland applied for a transfer from Union to Alhambra.—'lho applicant to stand down for twelve months. J. W. Anderson was granted a transfer from tho Clutlia Club to Pirates Club. G. A. Perry wrote stat ing that last tober ho applied for a transfer from Zin■gari Club to Pirates Club. Ho would now like tho transfer changed to Kaikorai Club. —It was decided to inform the applicant that the transfer granted to him stood, and that if ho wished to transfer to Kaikorai ho would require to stand down for twelve months. GATE TAKINGS. The Secretary reported that the gate takings on Saturday were: Carisbrook, £154 11s 3d; Caledonian Ground, £l7 17a 9d. APPOINTMENTS. Mr W. Brown was elected vice-president of tho union m place of Mr G. Nelson, who was recently appointed treasurer. Mr W. E. Eagiey was appointed as a member of tho Flag Committee in place of Mr Nelson. Mr S. G. Styche was appointed convener of tho Flag Committee. Mr A. Heifemail was appointed to the Works Committee in place of Mr Bagley, who retired from that committee on his appointment as a member of the Flag Committee. Tho vacancy on tho committee caused by the resignation of Mr Dunne was filled by the appointment of Mr T. Woodrow. REFEREES’ BY-LAWS. Tho Secretary of tho Referees’ Association (Mr R. M’Kenzie) wrote stating that at a general meeting of the association tho following alterations and additions to the by-laws were agreed to; —(1) That tho executive be increased from four to six; (2) that any active member who is absent from three consecutive meetings for tho discussion of rules without sending a reasonable excuse may be struck off the roll of membership by the executive. SHOW WEEK MATCH. Tho Secretaries of the South Otago, Eastern Districts, Tuapeka, and North Otago Sub-unions wrote intimating that their bodies had fallen in with the proposal of the union for each sub-nnion to appoint a selector to pick a combined team from the sub-unions to play an Otago team during Show Week, on Juno 4.—lt was decided that when the selectors were in Dunedin an endeavor would be made to arrange a meeting to discuss country football, and that the sub-unions be asked to instruct their selectors with respect to any matters they wished to bo discussed. MRS DEAN CONGRATULATED. It was expected that the Scottish attitude in connection with the New Zealand tour would give piquancy to the gathering, but it was uneventful. Mr Neilson, the retiring president, announced that the Scottish Union had no quarrel with New Zealand, but it had ignored the New Zealand visit owing to tfie manner in which tho English Rugby Union had arranged the tour. After the New Zealand tour of 1905 it had been agreed that any tour to or from overseas should bo under the direct auspices of the International Board; but in July Scotland bad been merely informed that thirty-four matches were being arranged, of which two had been allocated to Scotland. Club wrote protesting against tho action of Southern in playing in the fifth grade three boys who, they claimed, were over age.—lt was decided to do nothing in the matter, as no deposit accompanied the protest, which was also overdue. An application for the transfer of G. Wallace from Maori Hill to Taieri was referred to the Transfers Committee.

Tho Seacliff Club was granted permission to play a match at Seacliff on Thursday against a team from H.AI.S. Dunedin. , "it was decided to ask the referee (Mr Robinson) and W. Brundell (reserve player) for an explanation- of their nonappearance at Culling Park on Saturday in connection with tho Navy match. Tho Secretary of the South Canterbury Football Association- wrote -asking for tho rules governing the Peter Dawson Cup games.—Left in the hands of tho secretary. The Southland Football Association inquired if Otago could arrange to send a team to Invercargill, tho game to count for tho Peter Dawson Cup.—Letter received, and consideration of tho matter to stand over for one week. SEACLIFF CLUB’S POSITION. LAST YEAR’S CONDITIONS GRANTED. A special general meeting of the Otago Football Association was held for the purpose of furt'het’ considering the position that had arisen through tho Seacliff Club being unable to take part in the scheme of “ horae-and-hornc ” matches that Uie executive had decided to go through with. There was an attendance of 'twenty-one delegates, including tho president (Air H. J. Duncon) and vice-presidents. The following are tho names of _ the six delegates responsible for the requisition railing the meeting:—T. K. AUGilHvray, F. D‘. Rutherford, IT. AULean, William Janies, R. Brown, and T. Air Deuchrass then rose, and, producing a typewritten set of rides which he claimed were the revised rules, quoted from 'them to tho effect that no special meeting could be called without (wo weeks’ notice being given. He said that all executive members bad copies of tho new rules. Several members stated that, although they had acted on last year’s executive, thev had not received copies. Dr M‘Killop asked whether any delegate had the right to bring a set of rules and say -that they were the rules of toe association. It was decided to adhere to the printed rules, and go on with tho meeting. Air R. Brown then moved and Air APGillivray seconded—“ That the motion carried by tho executive, requiring Seacliff to come to town ovary second Raitnrdav he rescinded, and that the club be allowed in the competition under the same conditions ns last year.” A lengthy discussion followed.
