MR MTCENNA’S HOPES. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 27. (Received January 28, at 9.55 a.m.) At a meeting of shareholders of the Midland Bank to-day, Mr R. M’Konna, said; “There are indications that wo are nearing the end of a most trying period. I am hopeful that we are now on the road to recovery". lam happy to say I believe that tho labors of the Reparations Committee will bo successful, and I am hopeful that they will lead to some change in the methods of dealing with reparations, which will bo indispensable before permanent peace can bo achieved.” —A. and N.Z. [Mr M’Kcnna, who is chairman of directors of the London Joint City and Midland Bank, is chairman of one of the committees which were appointed to consider the question of German reparations and cognate subjects.]
