Tho railway managers’ reply to the Locomotive Society’s request for a fresh conference emphasised that tho managers aro not prepared to discuss a revision of the. decision of the National Wages Board : but if tho locomotive men’s executive will indicate the existing differences they have in mind a meeting will he arranged if the differences are such as can at present be usefully discussed. The Locomotive Society’s executive subsequently decided to inform the railway managers that the strike must continue. Mr Bromley announces that a. cable has been received from tho Australian Federated Engineers’ Association offering financial assistance, which it- has been decided to accept.
One hundred thousand South Wales and 6.000 Lothian minors have been rendered idle.—Renter.
