EXHIBITION DIRECTORS
LAST NIGHT’S MEETING. A meeting of the directors of the Now Zealand and South Seas Exhibition ComSany was held last night; prasent—Mr J. utheikad Rosa (chairman), Messrs H. L. Tapley, 0. Speight, T. Somerville, C. Todd, S’, L Hals ted, P. Barr, A. Barnett, W. R. Hayward, and H. F. Sinoock. Tho Chairman reported that ho had waited upon tho Hon. W. Downie Stewart, us requested, with reference to the various exhibits now on tho way to_ Wembley. Ha asked for the following exhibits;—The mineral exhibits; the interior decorations, including the mural paintings and figures prepared by New Zealand artists; the .kauri'gum exhibit and its case; maps (various), all of these; Maori arts and crafts, as also the Maori house (MataAtuaV; natural history exhibit; seeds, and the cases in which exhibited- —tho latter particularly, as new seeds could no doubt bo obtained in the dominion in 1925; timber- (tho whole intact). Continuing, Air Ross stated that tho Minister was favorably inclined, and promised to interview tho various departments. He also expressed the opinion that the company would secure the exhibits they sought. The President of the Industrial Association of Canterbury (Mr 11. 11. Best) wrote stating that owing to the very strong feeling of members of his executive against "the Exhibition being of an international character, and consequently foreign goods being accepted as exhibits, ho could not accept tho company’s invitation to -become an executive commissioner to the Exhibition. Ho further stated that although his executive took such a firm stand on this subject, the individual members of the association would be entirely free to decide for themselves whether they exhibited or not.—Received. The following report was submitted by Mr Speight, chairman of tho Amusement Committee Mr Nees attended and gave an outline of the amusements in Lima Park, Coney Island, and Atlantic City; also an outline of devices, and a rough estimate of cost and working expenses. It was resolved on the motion of Air Barnett—" That Air No.es be requested to furnish a more or less concrete proposal in ro Amusement Park, giving as full details ns possible as to proposed amusement devices that ho would be in a position to provide in Amusement Park at the Exhibition, and any other information he might consider of interest to the directors," Tho following report was submitted by Mr F. W. Mitchell (chairman of the Business Men’s Committee)“ The business of the evening was to receive progress reports on the canvass made by individual members of tho committee. Verbal reports were made which showed that £9OO had been promised.” The Chairman said that in his opinion more publicity in respect of the Exhibition was required, and if this were given effect to it would materially assist the committee to further its efforts to raise more capital. Tho rules and regulations were fully discussed, and were referred to the Publicity Committee for consideration aud report. It was resolved that tho insurance business be divided among the insurance companies that subscribed for shares in proportion to their subscriptions. The question of the appointment of an engineer was considered, and the matter was finally referred to the Works Cmn■mitteo. Accounts amounting to £57 4s 9d were passed for payment. Mr Edmund Anscombe was appointed architect.
