Chief-detective Cameron asked for a remand till February 1 at Christchurch. Mr A. L. Hobbs, who appeared for all tho accused, objected. Ho stated that tho police had informed the magistrate in Dunedin that tho final remand would be to Dunedin on January 31, when the police would bo prepared to go oh with tho case, Tho Chief Detective said they had received later information that morning, and in accordance with the wishes of the Dunedin police ho asked for a remand till Friday next, when the date of hearing at Dunedin would probably bo fixed. The magistrate granted the remand. Mr Hobbs asked for bail, and in view of tho number of remands suggested that the amount should be as light as possible. Tho Magistrate admitted the accused to bail in the sum of £2OO and one surety of £2OO. On the second charge against Williamson a second surety, he said, would bo necessary. Mr Hobbs asked if Golding could be admitted on his own recognisance. Ho received bail on these terms in Dunedin. Tho Magistrate said ho must find a surety.
