A Frenchman named Pan] Lampriero has been arrested on a charge of stealing £42 from the West Perth Post Office. The police state that Lampriora is identical with Claude do Vera, who in November last escaped with another prisoner from the Bendigo Gaol. Prior to escaping de Vere made an unsuccessful attempt, for which he was sentenced to an additional eighteen months’ imprisonment. THE COKE DISPUTE. SYDNEY, January 25. (Received January 25, at 11.50 a.m.) It is announced that a further conference has been convened for next week in the hope of settling the coke dispute. MELB TRAGEDY STILD NO TRACE. MELBOURNE, January 25. (Received January 25, at 11.55 a.m.) There is no trace yot of the lunatic who was responsible for the Gardens shooting. He is believed to bo a mathematical student suffering from brain fag through over-study.
