PLUNKET SHIELD FINAL
OTAGO y. WELLINGTON. The Plunket Shield cricket match hatween Otago and Wellington, to be played at Carisbrook on Friday, Saturday, and Monday, is being looked forward to with a -vast amount of interest by all followers of cricket. Special interest is being taken in the engagement, as the result will decide which province is to hold the Plunket Shield. The visitors are sending down their best side, and will be strong both in batting and bowling. The presence of Kortbng will cause a great deal of interest, as he is a very attractive bat, and promised to be one of the leading cricketers in Australia. S. Hiddleston, the old Albion player, is in great form this year, and is an attractive batsman to watch ; while in Collins Wellington has another fine all-round cricketer. Brice and M'Girr are two first-class bowlers. Mr C. G. Wilson, the old Otago captain, is coming down as manager of the team, and it will bs pleasant to renew acquaintance with the evergreen “Gillie.” The Otago team is the best available. The presence of G. Dickinson should strengthen the attask if the weather clears and the wicket is fast. Otago supporters hope to see Worker, Shepherd, Alloo, M'Mullan, and Blamircs and Co. repeat some of their performances of the northern tour. The match is expected to provide some excellent cricket.
An official programme is being compiled containing a great deal of useful information. The match will commence at 11 a.m. each day; the luhcheon adjournment will be from 1 to 2 p.m. The prices of admission are: —Ground Is, stand 6d (plus tax). After 4 o’clock admission will bo 6d ; children half-price.
