LABOR PREMIER
WELCOME TO MR THEODORE
[Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, January 15. The Hon. E. G. Theodore, Premier of Queensland, was enthusiastically welcomed by a large gathering of Labor representatives at the Trades Hall. He gave an account of Labor’s access to power in Queensland, and explained how it obtained the co-operation of the farmers through the formation of the Queensland Producing Association with 720 branches and a membership of 22,000 working farmers. Then the Council of Agriculture was formed under the control of the Government. The object was to assist farmers to solve farm problems, such as marketing of produce, finance, agricultural science, and dealing with pests, etc. This was submitted to the farmers two years ago, when Labor got the support of the producers; and a land policy was now in operation and working successfully.
