HOSPITAL AFFAIRS

MONTHLY BOARD MEETING. The monflily meeting of the Otago Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was held last evening, and was attended by Air W. E. S. Knight (chairman), Mcsdames Jackson and Alacfie, Dr Nowlands, and Messrs iMorgan, Dove, Hancock, Rodger, Sen it, and Quelch.

The Director-General of Health wrote stating that the Alinister of Health had approved of the appointment of Drs Perry, Scrymgeour, Kingston, Ivcrach, Death, Champtaloup, Aitken, and Taylor.—Received.

The Town Clerk, Dunedin, writing with reference to the contemplated removal of the Quarantine Station at Port Chalmers, stated that in compliance with the board’s suggestion the matter had been brought before the Aledical Officer of Health, who had replied that there was no further need for the institution.—The matter wag referred to the Finance Committee to report. The Secretary reported that donations totalling £232 11s had been received towards trio radium fund.—Adopted.

The resignation of Dr Williams as junior house surgeon was accepted. W. G. Hay wrote enclosing extract from the will of the lato Mr W. T. Talboys, who had bequeathed £IOO, the income from which was asked to be bovoted to the Christmas cheer fund. —Eoctived.

The sub-committee appointed reported that there had been sixty applications for tho position of librarian at the Medical School and part-time records clerk, at a salary of £IOO per annum.—Tho matter was considered in committee, and it was decided to appoint Dr S. W. Hogg, the position to bo reviewed at the end of twelve months.

Tho Chairman congratualed members on tho work dono during tho year, and wished members and the staff the compliments of tho season.

Mr Qublch reciprocated the chairman’s good wishes, and paid a_ tribute to Mr Knight’s good work.
