DRUIDISM

The annual meeting of the Ivanhoe Lodge was hold on Wednesday evening, when A.D. Bro. Reid was greeted with a fair attendance of members and visitors. The bards reported favorably on the sick memhoi’s. All arrangements are well in hand for the children’s night. D.P. Bro. Thompson, assisted by P.D.P. Bro. Ockwelil, installed the following officers: J.P.A., Bro. Reid; A.D., Bro. Earley; V.A., Bro. A. Brockie; secretary, Bro. H. Brockie; treasurer, Bro. G. Germ; I. Bro. Seddon; 0.G., Bro. Jury; A.D.B.s, Bros. Borrow and Seal; V.A.D.s, Bros. Clark and Brookie, jun.; M.C., Bro. J Simmons: minute secretary, Bro. R. Cahill. Tho usual loyal toasts were responded to by D.P. Bro. Thompson, P.D.P. Bro. Ockwell, P.A. Bro. Bradshaw, and P.A. Bro. Walker.

Bride of Mormngton had a large muster at their last_ meeting, A.D. Bro. Hewitt presiding. Visitors present were D.P. No. 2 Bro. Wilson, P.A. Bro. Workman, jun., and P.A. Bro. Workman, sen. Correspondence was received from Ivan hoe, Otago, and Royal Arch Chapter, conveying greetings. Dr Do Latour’a application for medical officer was accepted. Two brothers from Alexandra Lodge wore admitted by clearance. The balance-sheet and auditor’s report wore received, end several brothers eulogised the secretary's good work in maintaining such a creditable financial position. After a general discussion the balance-sheet was adopted. Previous to the ballot being taken for the election of District President, P.A. Bro. Workman and P.A. Bro. Clark spoke to the members, soliciting their support. A Dutch auction was carried out under the hammer of M.C. Bro. Oliver, and, several valuable parcels were offered tor sale. The installation of the officers was then carried out by D.P. Bro. Wilson, who was ably assisted by P.A. Bro. Clark. The D.P. was called on to present P.A. Bro. Horwood Willi his diploma. Several motions for the good of file order were then passed, and A.D. Bro. Watft closed the lodge in peace and harmony. Children’s night at Pride of Mornington surpassed all expectations. The children were there in large numbers—-180 in all—• 100 adults also participating. A unique opening Chorus was the introductory part of the programme. The sports were then commenced. Owing to the largo number of entries for the various games the programme was not nearly completed. During the evening items were given by bliss Gardner (recitation), Mr Gilchrist and Jerry (ventriloquist.), and Master J. Stevens (song). The Christmas tree was laden with good things, and a ticket system was adopted to assure all the children receiving a toy. The children were then treated to lea and cakes, as were also their parents. As the children left for - home they were given a bag of sweets. There was a good attendance at the Idly of the Valley meeting in the Albany Street Hall -on the occasion of the halfyearly installation of officers. A.D. Bio. Trimmell presided. D.P. Bro. Thompson was officially received, and with the assistance of P.A. Bro. Walker (Linden)installed the officers for the current term. Tire whole ceremony was pleasing. The secretary read the balance-sheet, which showed the lodge to bo in a sound condition. The auditors —P.G.P. Bro. Crawford and P.G.G. Bro. Reid gavo their report, and complimented the secretary, Bro. A. Watson, on the excellent manner in which the books had been kept. An adjournment was made for supper, a pleasant hour being spent in song and recitation, Bros. Trimmell, Bedford, Cook, Walker, and others contributing. It was decided to meet again on January 9.
