HORSE OTHERS, LISTEN TO MY SONG!
According to St. Andrew’s new Lord Rector, tho R.H.A. boasts that it _is “ First among tho women and amazing first in war.” But a stunning blow is in store for the R.H.A.’s pride. Frightfully utilitarian experiments have been made recently by the W.O. in the direction of tractor-drawn artillery, and so satisfactory have been the results that, according to reliable service talk, we are within open sight-range of a horseless Royal Horse Artillery. The truth is, of course, as so many gallant hearts discovered in the years following 1914, that modern war is hopelessly unromantio, at least on tho spectacular aide. Tho gas mask was tho final coup do grace to knight-errantry. And ■ a tractor-artillery corps is merely tho logical sequel to events. But it will be a sad day for the Military Tournament when the old Chestnut troup, manoeuvring at full gallop in the arena m all its glory of gold braid and shakos, is replaced by something between a tank and a caterpillar.—Our London correspondent.
