SPORTS WONDERLAND CARNIVAL
Attention is drawn to the advertisement in this issue announcing a carnival to be held in His Majesty’s Theatre and adjoining halls from October 20 to 27. The carnival is being organised to raise funds to assist the Otago Ladies’ and Men’s Hockey, Otago Cricket, and Otago Football Associations, who are all badly in need of assistance. Attractive programmes have been arranged for each evening, and there will be plenty of novelties iu the way of side shows, etc., including an up-to-date cabaret. In connection with the scheme for decoration, the promoters have just concluded negotiations for the purchase of “ Wirthwhylo Village,” which proved such an attraction at the Early Settlors’- Hall this week. In addition to tire carnival, a gala day sports meeting will he held on the Caledonian Ground on Monday, October 22 (Labor Day) at which boxing, running, cycling, and piping and dancing events will he included in the programme.
