WOOL MARKET.
LONDON, September 29. The wool sales closed firm. There was a good attendance throughout. Competi(ion wis well sustained for all classes, and the market was buoyant and the tono confident. There have boon considerable withdrawals of merinos owjng to the high reserves, nut prices generally maintained Hie July rates. Cross-’brods, fine to medium, made. 5 to 7i per cent, above the July sales j lower sorts, par to 5 per cent.; scourcijs, 5 to 7} per cent.; and slipe-s, sto 7£ per cent, llambs were in small supply. Merino® were generally 5 io 7£ per cent, dearer, and cross-bmls about Id dearer on tho closing rates. Continental sorts have boon* in sellers’ favor. Good scoured merinos show a. slight advance. Both Homo and Continental buyers competed keenly for them.
The catalogue comprised the following;—Australian, 90,000 bales; New Zealand, 105; Cape Tanias, 40,000. Twenty per cent, of Australian and 10 per cent, of New Zealand wero withdrawn. Tho Continent took about 75 per cent, of tho Australian, and Bradford 25 per cent. Bradford took 65 pier cent, of the crossbreds, and the Continent 35 per cent. At tho close of tho series Bawr.Vs stocks approximated 433,000 bales, of which 290,500 were Australian and 142,500 New Zealand.—A. and N.Z. Cable,

COLT) STORE CHARGES REDUCED.
The .Meat Producers' Board lias received advice from its London office that, owin'* to the reduction in labor exists, the Intea* national Cold Storage and 100 Company, of Southampton, has been aide to reduce its cold store charges by 5-per cent, as from August 1; also a reduction of 3 per cent, has been made in labor and extra charge.'!, making a 10 per cent, reduction on Ufb latter charges. In .addition, tho Southern Railway Company has reduced its charges at Southampton docks for receiving, loading, wharfage, and haulage hv 10 per coni. It Ls of interest to note that in tho case of both cold storage and dock charges thia the second reduction made by: too authorities during the current year.
