DISPUTES CLAUSE OPPOSED,
[Pkr United Press Association.]
AUCKLAND, Sepi-ember 28. When the Auckland freezing works dispute was before the A r hit rati n Court, Mr .Instico I’razor presiding, the union opposed the inclusion of the -disputes clause. Mr h anderson (\\ ollmMon), who appeared for the employers,' asked that tie award he made in terms of the recommendations of the Conciliation Council, with small machinery alterations. He was surprised at tho request made by the union.
His Honor said that both sides wc.ro satisfied that tho Disputes Committee had its uses, and did something which the courts could not do without a tremendous lot. of work in altering an award, [f cither side should try to .stonewall or make an unfair use of the committee, then that side would sooner or later lose the benefit of having it, for it was not intended to he abused. His personal view' was that the disputes clause had better be retained, but tho _court would consider tho matter before giving its decision.
