‘CAIRO’

‘Cairo,’ the gorgeous and spectacular play which has delighted thousands of theatre patrons in Australia and Now Zealand, was presented again before a crowded audience at His Majesty’9 Theatre last night. Mr Oscar Asche is the dominating figure throughout tho three hours’ performance, and the stage settings build a superstructure of pictures which are gorgeous and harmonious in coloring and magnificence. Mr Ascho appears in tho role of AH Shar, “ the grandfather of all liars,” and tho character’s power of roguery is fully illustrated in the Nile scene, when ho beguiles and robs a camp of Mecca pilgrims. There are several attractive musical items, and a full orchestra, under tho leadership of Mr Adrian Amadio, keeps pace with the swiftly-mov-ing and numerous scenes with alluring music. ' Cairo ’ will be repeated this evening, and tho season will conclude tomorrow with a matinee and evening performance.
