Bates) supplied the following at noon to-day : —The indications are for variable and moderate breezes; weather cloudy to overcast at times; there will probably be a hard frost tn-night; barometer unsteady; sea moderate, tides good. SAILED.—.JuIy 23, Breeze, s.s. (7.15 p.m.), 553 tons, Robert son, for Wanganui via ports. Holmdale, s.s. (10.45 p.m.), 810 tons, Holm, for Wanganui via ports. The. Kini is to leave Gisborne to-mor-row for Dunedin. She is due on Saturday morning, and is listed to sail the same day for Napier and Gisborne via ports. The Shaw, Savi.ll, and Albion Line, steamer Athcnic, which is at present loading at Auckland, will subsequently go to Gisborne, Napier, Lyttelton, and Wcllingto i to complete loading. She is due at Wellington on August 5, and is scheduled to sail from there on August 9 for Southampton and London via Montevideo and Toncriffe. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion liner Arawa is duo at Wellington on July 29 from Gisborne to complete her Homeward loading. She is timed to leave Wellington at daybreak on Thursday, August 2, for Southampton and London via Montevideo and Teneriffe.

A three-masted schooner was reported in the Hanraki Gulf on Thursday last. It eva-s thought to be the Louis Theriault, on route from Port Stephens to Kopn. She sailed from Port Stephens on July 2.

Tile Kaikora-i, which is due at Auckland on August 6 from Newcastle, Sydney, and Fiji, will load a quantity of sugar at. Lantoka for Auckland.

The,Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Napier is scheduled to sail from London on August 1 with cargo for discharge at Auckland. Wellington, and Napier. She is due at Auckland about Sort ember 10.

The Colonial Sugar Company has received advice that the chartered steamer Do Orevc is expected to arrive at Newcastle In-day, and should reach Auckland about July 31. The De Grove, which is en route from Java to Auckland with a cargo of sugar, was delayed by had weather north of Australia. The delay has necessitated her railing at Newcastle to replenish her bunkers. Following fM Cra guess, the next steamer from Texas with general cargo fir Auckland will he the Great City, which was scheduled to sail from Port Arthur on June 20. Cabled information has been received that the Canadian Seigneur arrived at New York on July 18 from Australian and New Zealand ports, en route to Boston and Montreal. Advice has been received that the Messageries Maritime,- Company will despatch its next steamer for Wellington on August 3 'l’he vessel (the Antinous) is expected In clear Marseilles on that date tor Noumea via ports. She should roach Wellington on October 7. The. Canadian Government Line, steamer Canadian Pioneer is duo at Auckland tomorrow from Montreal, which port site cleared on June 2. After discharge at (he northern port the vessel will proceed to Australia to discharge, and she later returns for loading on the New Zealand coast for American coast ports. Captain W. P. Collins resumed command of the Manuka at Wellington on Friday Inst.

Mr A. Cornelius has joined ilia Manuka in the- capacity of second officer, vice Air tf, McDonald. Air H, Firnmnnds, fourth engineer of the Ka-imnnnwa, and Mr X. Martin, In the same capacity on the Kekcrangu, have exchanged positions. Mr C. Falkenherg has relinquished the posl of chief engineer of th? Kckorangu, and Mr F. C. Remolds has signed on the vessel’s articles in that capacity.

The Union Company advises that the Waihemn is now due at Dunedin on Thursday morning from Lyttelton to.discharge a quantity of cargo from Pacific Coast ports, Fhe will sail about Friday for Sydney and Vancouver. The Union liner Moeraki. which arrived at Wellington this morning from Melbourne, is to sail to-morrow for Lyttelton ami Dunedin. She is due here on Friday morning, and is limed to sail on Friday afternoon for Bluff and Melbourne. The Kaitangata has been fixed to load at Westport about/Friday for Bluff, Dunedin, Oainaru, and Timnru. The Karori is expected to leave Greymouth to-morrow with a cargo of coal for discharge at Tiniaru, Oamaru, and Dunedin.

The Kairannawa was to leave Westport yesterday with a cargo of -coal for discharge at Wellington. •The Kaitoko is expected to leave. Newcastle to-day with a "cargo of coal for Wellington. The Kaiwarra. which lias been recommissioned at Auckland, is to sail this week fo" Newcastle to load for New Zealand. The Knromiko is due at Newcastle on Thursday from Wellington. She will load at the New South. Wales port for New Plymouth.

The Wailvora- is duo at Wellington tomorrow from Melbourne. She will load another shipment of rattle for Melbourne. The Wingatui, which arrived at Auckland this morning from southern ports, will leave there towards the end of this week for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. The Gale is due here this evening from Lyttelton, and is to sail to-morrow for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. THE FERRY SERVICE, Tho Wahino arrived at Lyttelton at 7 a.m. to-day from Wellington, and mails and passengers connected with the 8.45 a.m. express for the south. : CARGO FOR SOUTH ISLAND TORTS, The Shaw, Savill, and Albion steamer, Pakeha was scheduled to sail from Lon- - don on July 12 for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Timaru. She is due at Lyttelton about August -19. 1 SWAZI FROM NEW YORK. The Ellerman-Buckmill steamer Swazi, running under the auspices of the A. and A. Line, arrived at Colon on July 18. The vessel is en route from New York to Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Sydney. She is due at Auckland about August 13. KOSMO FROM NEW YORK. No recent advices have been received bv the New Zealand Shipping Company regarding tho Kosmn, but it is expected that tho steamer will arrive at Auckland about, to-morrow from New York. Tho Kosmo is bringing American cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Australian ports. FROM PACIFIC COAST PORTS. The Union Company's freighter Wallowa, from Java, is due at Vancouver today. She loads at Pacific Coast ports during August for Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, Bluff. Sydney, and probably Melbourne, CLIPPER PASSENGER SHIPS. Sailing vessels to-day arc not making money as cargo carriers, but it would appear that at all events one owner considers that their present sphere of usefulness can bo increased, it being slated that the Norwegian iron ship .Sophie has boon sold to a syndicate which will convert her into “an old-time clipper passenger ship.” LARGE CARGO FROM COLOMBO. When the Commonwealth Government passenger liner Jervis Bay arrived at Fremantle (wo -weeks ago, she was carrying 1.029 tons of tea and 570 inns of sundries from Colombo for Australian and New Zealand ports. In addition she was carrying 5,030 tons of general cargo from London. The officials of the lino stated that this i« one- of the biggest tea cargoes yot brought to the Commonwealth. SHIP UNDER ARREST. In tho Practice Court at, Hobart, "last week, application was made on behalf of Cecil Coghlkn, of Sydney, owner of tho ship Dolphin, lying at Hobart wharf (under arrest for debt), . for. an cutter a-blowing the ship to be transferred or sold to Air Charles Will ink, of Sydney, for a sufficient sum to meet (ho three existing claims against the vessel, totalling £1,458. It was explained that the vessel was offered by auction by the, sheriff at the appraised price of £5,800, but- there were no bidders. Tho order ashed' for was granted. PUKAKI DUE SHORTLY. Advice has been received stating that the Australian steamer Pukaki is due, at Dunedin about August 1 with a cargo of phosphates from Walpole, Island. After discharge the Pukaki will load general freight for northern ports. THE CANADIAN MILLER 1 . A wireless message received by 'Messrs H L. Tapley and Co. from the captain of the Canadian Miller states that the vessel will arrive, off the Heads about midnight to-morrow from Adelaide. The. steamer will berth at Dunedin on "Thursday morning to load a rpianDty of cargo for New York. Boston, and Montreal. She will sail about noon on Friday for Lyttelton. Wellington, Nanmr, and Auckland to complete her loading. STRANDED STEAMER WATTANGI. The coastal steamer Waitangi still reclines on (he bea-eli at Palea. and opinion is divided as to whether she will evm’ see deep water again. Tho stranded coaster is well up on the beach, and sheltered from all weather except westerly. One suggestion made, is that the steamer should he jacked across and dropped over the mole into the river; but in salvage operations the governing fad, is how much in the way of hard n~age, her venerable hull will stand.
