AUCKLAND, July 23. Tho inquiry into the Main Trunk disaster was continued to-day.

William Harding, station master, who examined the train before it left Auckland, said that everything was in order. James Mackley, locomotive engineer, of Auckland, replying to a question, said ho did not third? that making the ends of carriages solid would minimise ’he effects of such accidents.

James Farquhnr, a. passenger, said the wounded were removed from tho wreckage as expeditiously as possible. Everything was done to alleviate the suffering. Several train examiners at stations cn route said that the train was in good order.
