METALS. LONDON, July 19. Copper.—Spot, £6S 13a 9d; forward, £56 8s 9d. Lead.—Spot, £24 2s 6d; forward, £23 12s 6d. Spelter.—Spot, £29 7s 6d; forward, £29 ss.

Tin,—Spot, £179 12s 6d; forward, £l6O 17s 6d. Silver, 2s 7d per oz. —A. and N.Z. Cable.

BUTTER AND CHEESE.

LONDON, July 19,

A fair trade is passing in butter, the weather stimulating the consumption. Choicest Now Zealand salted, 156 s to ISSs; Australian, 146 s to 148 s; unsalted, about 2s premium. Cheese is very firm, tho strike preventing tho discharge of several New Zealand cargoes. This is creating a tempos, ary shortage, and the small quantities available are eagerly snapped up. New Zealand white, 96s to 190 s; colored, S6s to 98s.—A. and N.Z. Gable.

WHEAT, FLOUR, ETC.

LONDON, July 19.

Wheat cargoes are firm, but mo inactive. Parcels are irregular, closing 3d to 6d higher. Spot sales are greatly restricted by tho strike. Prices are nominal, except where delivery can 1 e assured. Australian, on trucks at docks, o Os 6d; to arrive, ex ship, 49s 6d. Flour is firm. Australian (nominally), 35s 6d to 365.

Barley, oats, peas, and beans are pom' inally unchanged. Sugar.—Granulated, 58s 7yd per cwt. —A, and N.Z. Cable.
