ORPHANS’ CLUB
The Dunedin Orphans’ Club held other successful meeting last night, Bro. R. S. War drop presiding over a large attendance of members. The programme, which was a nicely varied one, was contributed to by Bros. E. J. Mee, H. Ferguson, H. C. Cantrell, C. F. Carter, A. Moore (songs); E. Hendry, H. W. Hunter (recitations), M. Faigan (clarinet solo), Major Dampen (stones), D. E. Booth (logcrdtemain). The orchestra, under Bro. L. Borrow, rendered a number of selections in good style. A number of new members received their badges at- the hands of the chairman, and were accorded tho usual cordial welcome. Later, long-scrvice bars were presented to tho following members:—Twenty years’ membership, Bro. R. G. T. Evans (secretary) ; ten years and under twenty years’ membership—Bros. 0. Balk, R. 11. Bryant, A. Begg, T. W. Bobbie, F. C. Evans, A. Fairbairn, J. E. Galbraith, J. A. Haggitt, R. Hudson, H. M'Donald, J. K. Macfie, J. M'Connell, H. D. M’Kochnie, 0. Otto, P. L. Ritchie, J. Stedman, A. Sligo, T. P. Williamson, A. A. Waters, W. R, Waters, G. E. Withers, and G. A. Wycherley. A record of services rendered by these members was read by the chairman, and as each citono forward to receive the distinction he w/is honored in real Orphans’ style by tho rest. Other members who were entitled to the bars, but were unable to be present, were Bros. Captain Fleming, W. H. Irvine, Wm. Brown (twenty years). J. R. Bremner, I. S. He Beer, A. C. Hanlon, S. Solomon, G. W. M‘lntosh, G. M. M’Lean, F. M* Shortt, and J. Wren (ten years).
