Moeraki, Melbourne via Bluff, June 14. Whangape, Sydney via Bluff, June 26. The Wanaka arrived at Dunedin at 5 p.m. yesterday from Auckland via ports, and sailed again late last night for Bluff. She will return here on Friday morning to load for east coast ports and Auckland. The Whangape left Port Chalmers yesterday afternoon for' Timaru and Lyttelton to load for Auckland. Sbg will afterwards go to Sydney and Newcastle io load for Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Bluff. The Kurow left Dunedin last night for Oamaru and Timaru to complete loading for Wellington and Auckland. The Kamo, which sailed last night for the West Coast via ports, will load at, Westport and Greymouth about the end of this week for Lyttelton, Timaru, Oamaru, and Dunedin. The Waikouaiti is to leave Sydney about tho end of this week with general cargo for discharge at Bluff, Dunedin, Lyttelton, and Timaru. The Manuka, which is to leave Sydney on June 1 for Auckland, is duo at the northern port on June 5. and is to sail again three days later on tho return voyage.

The Marama, which arrived at Auckland yesterday from Sydney', is to sail on the return voyage on 'Friday morning. The C. and D. Line steamer Port. Auckland, from Port Kemhla via Waatfira, will complete Homeward loading at W'anganui roadstead, Tokomam Bay, Gisborne, Wellington, and Lyttelton. Sho is to sail from Lyttelton on June 10 foe London. The Canadian Miller is duo at Auckland about June 10 with general cargo from Halifax and New London. She cleared Now London on April 30. Tho Calm, which arrived hero this morning from Bluff, is to sail to-night for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. The Kaiapoi. with general cargo from South Australian ports and Melbourne, will not come to Dunedin, as wag originally expected. Her cargo for this portwill bo transhipped at Wellington or Lyttelton. Favored by fine weather, tho Federal steamer Dorset is making good progress i-i loading refrigerated cargo at Port Chalmers. She is expected to sail tomorrow for Bluff and Wellington to complete loading. The Gale is now expected to reach Dunedin on Saturday from Lyttelton, and is to sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Wanganui. THE FERRY SERVICE. The Mararoa arrived at Lyttelton at 11 a.m. to-day from Wellington, and mails and passengers connected with the 12,20 p.m. express for the south. WITH CARGO FROM MONTREAL. The steamer Tredinnick, with Montreal cargo, is to leave Auckland to-day for Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, Melbourne, and Sydney to complete discharge. ARAWA FROM LONDON. The Shaw, Savill, and Albion Company advises that the. steamer Arawa, which left London on May 11 with cargo, is expected to arrive at Auckland on June 19. From Auckland the vessel will proceed to Hawke’s Bay and Dunedin to discharge. THE CITY OF BATAVIA. The steamer City of Batavia arrived a,I Wellington last Sunday afternoon from Auckland to continue discharge of New York cargo to the agency' of the Federal Line. She is to leave Wellington to-day tor New Plymouth, Lyttelton, Timaru, Dunedin, and Australian ports to complete discharge. UNION COMPANY’S LATEST. Satisfactory progress is being made with the Union Company’s new Diesel engine liner in the Fairfield Works at Govan, Glasgow, and next summer should sec the vessel ready to take up her service'in the Pacific (says the London correspondent of the Wellington ‘Evening Post’). The Aorangi, as the vessel is to he called, is not the first of that name in the company. The old Aorangi. a ship with a schooner bow, originally belonged to the New Zealand Shipping Company. She was bought by the Union Company and plied in the Pacific mail service along with the Miowera. During tho war the Aorangi was taken over by the Government, and shortly afterwards was sacrificed for the good of the country. In other words, she was filled with concrete and sunk at the entrance to one of the East Const ports. Such, at least, is the unofficial story. TRANSPACIFIC CARGO SERVICE. The Union Company announces the following movements of vessels engaged in tho transpacific cargo service : Tho Hauraki, now loading at Pacific Coast ports, is expected to clear San Francisco about June 6 for Auckland, Melbourne, and Sydney. The Waiotapu sailed from Svdncy on May 7 for Vancouver and San Francisco. She is due at Vancouver about June 6, and will load at Pacific Coast ports during Juno for 'Wellington, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney. The Wairuna, from Pacific Coast via New Zealand ports, left Dunedin on Sunday for Melbourne and Sydney. Tlie Waikawa sailed from Sydney on Mav 17 for Vancouver via Java. The Waihemo. from Dunedin, arrived at Sau Francisco on May 16. She will load at Pacific Coast ports for Napier. New Plymouth, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and Sydney. GERMANY BUYING AMERICAN SHIPS. It was reported in. shipping circles in London recently that a large- proportion of the 11.000,000 tons of American shipping which it has been decided to sell as a result of the United States Senate’s failure to take up President Harding's Ship Subsidy Bill has been bought already by German ship owners. According to tho report, the Harriman group has acquired, on behalf of the North German Lloyd, six vessels of an intermediate passenger and cargo type designed for the South American trade, and ranging from 8,000 to 12,000 tons each. These vessels, it is expected, will bo used in cutting into South American trade, for which Germans have secured most of their prewar interests already. Other information from British shipping representatives in New York was that Herr Hugo Stinnett, through two syndicates, has acquired twelve cargo ships, ranging from 4,000 to 8,000 tons each, some of which have been very unsuccessfully run by the Shipping Board in the Baltic and Mediterranean. EX-ORIENT LINER ORONTES. The cx-Orient liner Orontes, which is to be re-christened the British Trade, is now being refitted for her round-the-world trip as a floating exhibition, intended to revive British trade in the markets of the world. This tradeship will visit South America, South Africa, Australia. New Zealand, China, Japan, India, Ceylon, Egypt, and Algeria, calling at forty-three ports and exhibiting in thirty-nine. Four of her decks will he devoted to displaying from trivial articles to heavy machinery, and her equipment includes kinemas and theatres. The refitting of the ship, which is .said will cost over £40,000, was keenly tendered for by shipping firms on Clyde, Tyne, and Mersey. Messrs Livingstone and Cooper, of Hull, were the successf'd tenderers. Mr Daniel Livingstone, tho head of that firm, is a cousin of Mr D. Livingstone, of Port Chalmers. THE MELBOURNE STEAMER. Tho Union Company advises that the interstate steamer Moeraki is to leave Melbourne on June 6 for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, She is expected to arrive here on June 14. and is listed to sail tho same day for Bluff and Melbourne. KAITUNA FROM AUSTRALIA. The Union Company’s steamer Kaituna, from Bunbury and Adelaide, entered the Heads shortly after 10 a.m. to-day, and anchored in the Lower Harbor about, an bnur later io undergo medical and Customs inspection. She came up to Dunedin this afternoon, and was berthed at the Rattray street wharf to discharge a quantity of hardwood and general cargo. Tho Kaituna is to sail to-morrow for Lyttelton. Wellington, and Auckland to complete discharge. j

MIDDLESEX DUE TO-MORROW. Messrs Turnbull, Martin, and Co. ad. vise that the steamer Middlesex is duo at. Dunedin to-morrow morning from Liverpool via northern ports to. discharge tho remainder of her Homo cargo and to commence loading for Boston, New York, and West Coast of England ports. She will sail about the end of the week tor Timaru and northern ports to complete loading. TAIROA FROM LIVERPOOL. Tiie National Mortgage and Agency Company advises that tho Rhaw-Savill steamer Tairoa, which is now discharging Liverpool cargo at Auckland, is due at Dunedin on June 12 to complete discharge.
