SUCCESS OF DUNEDIN COMPETITORS, [Special to the ‘Star.’] CHRISTCHURCH, May 22. At yesterday’s competitions in English song or ballad, (soprano), Mrs R. loote (Dunedin) was among the recalls. The English-song (mezzo soprano, own selection) resulted ; Miss Elsie Bryant (Dunedin), 91 marks, 1; Miss Eileen Warwick (Wanganui), 89, 2. In the vocal scholarship, ladies between sixteen and twenty-four years (own selectoin), Misses Elsie Bryant (Dunedin) and Eva Marshall (Oamaru) were among the recalls. Miss So.phie Vivian (Dunedin) was unplaced. The recitation, boy or girl between twelve and sixteen years, in character (own selection), resulted : Madge Yates (Dunedin), 90 marks, 1; Mercia Harman, 87, 2; Winnie Smith (Christchurch), 85, 5. The oratorial’display, lady or gentleman, under twenty-one years, was won by Miss S. Aitken (Invercargill).
