WILLIAMSON 1923 PANTOMIME

‘THE FORTY THIEVES.’

On Friday next, at His Majesty’s Theatre, J. C. Williamson, Ltd., will present what is claimed to bo its “ greatest of all pantomimes,” ‘The Forty Thieves.’ The box plans will bo opened at Tho Bristol Piano Company to-morrow morning. Usually the J. 0. Williamson pantomime has been regarded as the biggest theatrical event of the year, but it is said this year’s attraction bids fair to supplant anything of the kind previously presented in Dunedin. This year the big attraction is based upon tho story of ‘ The Forty Thieves,’ and the narrative concerning the robbers of the cave has been closely adhered to. There is an abundant supply of ballets, choruses, and marches of a gorgeous nature, and the aggregation of artists appearing in tho cast should equal anything New Zealand has yet seen. Joo Brennan plays the Dame, _Jack Cannot Ali Baba, and that delightful English artist, Mona Magnet, who made her debut on Saturday in ‘The Peep Show,’ ns principal boy, with Phyllis Beadon as principal girl. Predominating tho whole show there is a dancing element, headed by those experts, Frederick Mackay, Daisy Yates, Phyllis Amcry, and the eccentric dancers and comedians, _ Messrs Edgoley and Dawo. An outstanding feature of the pantomime is tho acrobatic speciality act provided t>y Messrs Mollo and Ncllo, from leading _ theatres of Europe. The pantomime will bo played for five nights, with a special matinee next Saturday afternoon. It will be interpreted by the entire ‘ Peep Show Company.
