The start was a good one, and Boaclicea. with Wa.rhaven, set put to make the pace a cracker, but with the exception of Harlequin, who was tailing off, the others were close up to them. Urgency was at the head of affairs when the straight was entered, but Ardour, who had a bad passage along the, back, was handy, and once she challenged site had Urgency’s measure. All this time Palestrina was making up her ground on the rails, and threw out a determined challenge approaching the distance; but it was unavailing, as once Ardour was shaken up she went on to win handsomely. Castellian ran a good third, but 1 Buadicea and Some Kid ran wretchedly, as they collapsed after entering the straight and finished a long way behind the placed division. Warhaven failed to see the journey out, and Harlequin was hopelessly outclassed. WANGANUI RACES. The totalisator handled £33,716, against £33.503 for the second day of last year.
