SUPREME COURT

CRIMINAL AND CIVIL CALENDARS.

The criminal sittings of the Supreme Court will commence in Dunedin on Tuesday of next week. So far it is not known who will be the judge. FOR TRIAL. The following persons will appear for trial on the charges specified:— James Baxter Kerr, James Kerr, and Donald H. Campbell, robbery and violence at Dunedin. Mary Jane Clark and Edith Towler, procuring abortion (Dunedin). Hyman Isaacs, (1) procuring abortion, (2) conspiring to commit a crime (Dunedin). John Skinner, theft of cattle (Hampden). Ruth Kato Cranefield, two charges of procuring abortion (Dunedin). Albert Edward Blundell, (1) bigamy, (2) false declaration (Dunedin). Richard Pickard Jones, indecent assault on a male (Dunedin). Archibald Campbell Sira and James Proctor Nicholson, false pretences. FOR SENTENCE.

The following prisoners, who pleaded guilty in the lower court, will come up for sentence: —

Thomas Aaron Hughes, theft as a postal officer. Rita Margaret Smith, arson. Leslie Henderson Crawford, indecent assault on a female. Albert George Alexander, breaking, entering, and theft by day (two charges). CIVIL CASES. The following civil cases have been set down for Tuesday, May 8, when dates will be fixed for their hearing:— Bridget Mary Kearney v. the King.— A petition of right for £2,000 as damages for the death of her husband which was caused during his employment by the Post and Telegraph Department. (To be heard before the judge and jury.) George Herbert Ross and William Archibald Ross v. Isabella Smaill.—Claim for possession of dwelling house and £IOO damages for loss and inconvenience. (Before the judge alone.) Arthur Preston Burton v. Joseph Charles.—Claim for £1,450 for false representations alleged to have been made by defendant with respect to a property at Kuri Bush purchased by plaintiff. (Before a judge and jury of twelve.)
