■ RELIEF COMMITTEE. A meeting of tho Flood Relief Administration Committee was held this morning, the mayor (Mr J. S. Douglas) presiding. It was decided to divide the city and suburbs into blocks, nnd ; to allot a block to the charge of one or more workers, in order to put the whole matter on a properly organised footing. A* sub-committee met this afternoon to allocate the various blocks, and tho workers will meet at 11 a.m. to-morrow to kike over their blocks. Tho ESRcf Administration Domini too will /also meet at 11 a.m. It was pointed out that a good deal of overlapping bad been going on in connection with relief work, and it was decided to confer with the Salvation Army and other bodies in order to prevent this happening. It was reported' that the total amount in hand was £1,582 3s 9d. BOGUS COLLECTORS. It has been reported to the mayor that some people are calling at houses asking for money for the relief funds. He wishes it to be known that no one is authorised to go round 1 collecting funds, and that the only places for receiving money are the Town- Hall and tho newspaper offices. GOVERNMENT ASSISTANCE SOUGHT With a view to receiving assistance from the Government, the mayor to-day despatched tho following telegram to the Prime Minister“ Floods in Dunedin and suburbs have left numerous workers with families in dire distress. Many are only in possession of clothes provided by the relief workers. The, citizens—all of whom have suffered more or less—aro_giving generously to assist. Much is reqniied. I appeal to vou for assistance on amount subscribed. Urgent and practical support is imperative.”
