TOO LATE FOR TREATMENT

- RECORDS OF T.B. SANATORIUM. [Pm United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, April 24. In his annual report to the North Canterbury Hospital Board, Dr G. J. Blackmore, medical director of tuberculosis institutions, says: “ Very many cases were admitted during the year to the Coronation Hospital when they had _ readied an absolutely hopeless condition, and nothing could bo done for them. Many of them lived only from a few days to a few weeks after admission. It will bo noted that of fifty-five persons admitted during tho year, forty-threo camo in suffering from advanced disease. Many persons seemed to be possessed of the idea that after exhausting outside treatment, regular and irregular, without benefit, they can come into the sanatorium and be restored to health. The terrible result of this erroneous idea is shown clearly by the Coronation Hospital figures. On the other hand, tho sanatorium figures i show equally clearly what can bo done for persons suffering from consumption when they submit themselves for treatment in tho early stages of their disease.”
