Sugar: Granulated, 65s The rise is attributed to the _ American ring advancing prices and limiting supplies. _ The Bradford wool market is firm, with, more inquiry. Cross-bred 56’s, SfiW; 50 s, 27d; 40's l6|d; others, unchanged^ Wheat cargoes are firm, with fair demand. Parcels are Am. with fair request at an advance of 6d. Spot trade is steady, but less active. Australian landed. 55s 3d. Flour is firmer. Australian, cx Etore, 36s 6d to 375. Barley and oats are unchanged. Peas; There is small demand. New Zealand maples, May shipment, 70s. Beans: The market is quiet. New Zealand snot, 49s to 50s. Butter slumped badly owing to the almost complete cessation of demand. Holders are kept lowering prices in the hope of effecting sales, but buyers, having apparently plentv for requirements, are holding, ‘hoping for further reductions. The bulk of Australian and New Zealand arrivals are placed in cold stores, which are now overcrowded. The demand for Danisli from Germany and America quick! v ceased, with the result that Danish is freely offered here down to 165 s to-day. Quotations: Choicest New Zealand, MBs to 150 s; Australian, 140 s to 1425; unsalted, about 2s-4s premium. At these prices some business lias been done, hut the market is very nervous. Figures for the year ended in December last received by the Waihi Company’s representatives show that owing to the fall in tlie price of gold and silver, and the high cqst of working, the output was only just sufficient to cover working expenses. The previous year's income tax having absorbed the whole interest from investments, it was necessary to draw on the equalisation scheme to pay a dividend of Is per share. The figures are : Dividends paid. ’ * ' v -es, -fiifiOO; depreciation, £15,000; total, £99,200, provided for as follows :—lncome from investments, £34.362; transfer from dividend reserve, £50X00; transfer from development reserve, £15,000; total, £99.362.
