THE M’GRUEG ESTATE
VALUABLE BEQUESTS. WHOLE FORTUNE FINALLY GOES TO CHURCH AND SALVATION ARMY. [Per United Press Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, April 20. Under the will of 51r J. D'. M’Gi’uer, who died at Christchurch on April 12, provision is made for a number of bequests 1c various institutions and bodies in New Zealand and Scotland. The present value of the estate is approximately £160,000. The will provides for various legacies and bequests to members of the testator’s family, and to various relatives and friends. The following public bequests are made : Victoria Home for Friendless Girls, Invercargill, £IOO. Presbyterian Church, for Canton Village Missions, £SOO. Dr Barnado’s Homes, £IOO, Q.uarriers’ Homes, Glasgow, £IOO. Public School Board, Kingussie, Invernesshire (to provide annual dux medal), £IOO. Municipal Council of Kingussie (for the erection of a clock tower), £I,OOO. An interesting provision relates to the final disposition of testator’s estate. Upon the death of the last annuitant the residue is to ho transferred to the public trustee, who is to pay one-half of the income therefrom to the Salvation Army towards the upkeep of the children’s homos, rescue homes, and) prison gate work. The other half is to ho paid to the Presbyterian Church of New' Zealand) for the upkeep_ of orphanages and, Ross Horae (Dunedin) for Aged People. It will be many years before the estate comes Into the hands of the public trustee, as some of the annuitants are infants. It is probable, however, that when the time arrives for transfer the estate will be exceedingly valuable
