SECOND DAY. Tho monthly meeting of the Otago Education Board was continued yesterday morning, ■when there wore present Messrs J. Wallace (chairman), J. Tho architect’s report on applications for repairs and improvements was dealt with as under: —• Maori Hill School Committee's application for enlargement of infant department was declined—ln respect, to a complaint from Mr Bacon that drainage from the Mosgiel schooloromid was finding its way on to Ins property the architect recommended clearing existing'drains and intake pits and nrovidins an additional intake by -sinking barrels and filling them with stones; cost about £lo.—Approved. The Kensington Committee’s application for subsidy for asphalting vas on the usual terms, rhe head master’s application for free-arm in tho shelter at the entrance door of inlaid room was granted. Tho architect, submitted plans and estimate for alterations to infant department, Training College; cost, £B2l ss.—Plans to be sent on"to department. Mcsrtel applied for the use of science room (now unoccupied) for dental clinic.—Architect recommended that science material and equipment bo removed to Alexandra D.H. Scliool, and cost charged against grunt for Alexandra, the dental department to meet the cost ot paritiou and any other alterations necessary for the work of the clinic.— Approved during pleasure of board, work to bo done to its satisfaction. NEW APPLICATIONS. Tho Rnvnnshourne School Committee reported that it could not raise locally its share of tho cost, but would contribute half out of ordinary funds if the board would pay the ether half.—Agreed to. A protest, from Evansdalo residents agamet tho proposal to remove the school to Warrington was held over till next meeting. The Lawrence School Committee raised the question of tho partitioning off of portion of tho woodwork room for use as a dental clinic. The Mosgiel School Committee raised the question of tho partitioning off of _thc science room for the same purpose, the Chairman pointed out that these applications were coming from the committees, and that the least tho dental authorities could do was to approach the board when they wanted tho use of their schools. It was derided to write to Dr Hunter accordingly. Tho acting principal of tho Training College forwarded list of apparatus and material required for laboratory No. 1 (home, science); amount. £74 2s 7d—To he forwarded to department. ______
