A special meeting of tho Otago Harbor Board was held yesterday afternoon to receive tenders for the supply of 1,000 tons of coal. Five tenders came to hand, and after they had been announced they wore referred to tho engineer to report to the next ordinary mooting of the board. Two tenders were received for tho construction of a piormaster's house at Port Chalmers. Mr J. Knewstubb’s tender waa £1,066 6s 6d (in wood), and Messrs Love Brothers’ £1,170 (in wood) and £1,486 (in brick). Members expressed surprise that a fiveroomed house should cost so much. It waa decided to refer the tenders to tho engineer for a repoii.
