DANCING AGAINST TIME

AND AGAINST AUTHORITY.

“ MOVE-ON ” ORDER APPLIED,

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright,

NEW YORK, Aprfi 16. Although Miss Magdelcne Williams danced a new world’s record of sixty-five hours fifty-three minutes without police interference, and the Chicago health authorities declared that they would not interfere with anyone wishing to dance himself or herself to death, the New York police ordered three couples to leave a dance hall.

The dancers, undaunted, waltzed on to the sidewalk, and then up an improvised ramp into a motor truck, equipped with a gramophone, which discoursed inspiriting music while the truck was ferried across the Hudson River to Fort, Lee (New Jersey). There the mayor ordered the dancers to leave the town. Meanwhile the dancers continued their Marathon upon the motor truck floor, pending a search for a more hospitable town. The public everywhere is thoroughly aroused, and it is believed unlikely that the authorities will tolerate a continuance of these “ tests.” The dance managers are adamant, declaring that the contestants will finish in gaol if necessary.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
