Y.M.C.A. EFFORT
The boys’ work of the Y.M.C.A. is the portion ol that body s many activities that is the cause of a deficiency; but ;tho board of directors cannot face the idea of a curtailment of the work, nor of an increase in the cost of the membership fee to a boy, for they believe that the cost should be low enough to make it possible for all to join. Over thirty newsboys at their opening function last night proved that the association is not failing in its task to reach all classes.
Hearing that the association was in need of £2,000 to place it on a good footing, a number of the ladies- of various churches met and arranged for a large sale of work, produce, sweets, cakes, flowers, etc., for Friday and Saturday of this week. This will be run in conjunction with the usual side shows and entertainments. Other special efforts will be undertaken next week, to conclude with a bag day, for which about 6,000 parcels are already on hand.
