Mr John James Bardsley has been nominated for the Hospital Board. The name read as “Barclay” in last nights list of nominations.

The Hon. G. J. Anderson (Minister of Mines and Labor) passed through Dunedin tins morning on his way lack to Wellington. Mr W. T. Goodwin, Assistant Director of Horticulture, left for Wellington this morning. Mr R. M. Mercer, a member of the St, Hilda Borough Council, has returned from a holiday visit to Auckland. Ho will again be a candidate f or a seat on the council.

Mr L. G. Tuck has taken up duty_ as Deputy Commissioner of Stamp Duties vice Mr J. Morrison, who has been transferred to Christchurch.

Mr Douglas Ramsay, city solicitor,, started to-day for Sydney, and will probably return in three or four weeks’ time On the eve of her departure for Sydney and Brisbane Mrs J. P. Service was entertained at afternoon tea at the Kia Ura Tea Rooms on Tuesday afternoon. A presentation was made as a small indication of tho appreciation and esteem of her friends. A number of friends of Mr R. ihomson, of this city, met him at tho City Hotel this afternoon to wish him bon voyage on the occasion of bis visit to tho Old Country, and presented him with an address. Visitors to the city staying at the Grand Hotel include Mr J. A. Puckett, Mr L. H. Hopkins, Mr H. M. Gordon-dark, Mr A. G. Youngman, Mr J. F. Hayes (all from London), Mr and Mrs Mat. Barnett (Christchurch), Mr E. M. Nancarrow (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs G. Pinckney (Glenavy), Mr W. Wadsworth (Invercargill), Mr L. M. Faircloth (Invercargill), and Mr E. I). Ross Timaru). The visitors’ book at the Excelsior Hotel contains tho names of Mr and Mrs S. C. Walker (Balclutha), Mr M. Thornton (Greymouth), Mr J. Lcggo (Nelson), Mr 0. J. MTvenzie (Wellington), Mr L. P. Carlisle (Christchurch), and Mr W. A. Baines (Christchurch). The Rev. J. Foster, a visitor from England, arrived in Dunedin Inst evening from Cromwell, and loft by to-day’s second express for Christchurch.
